Blurb:
"Itchycoo Park" is, together with "Lazy Sunday", the biggest hit of the very popular 1960's mod band the Small faces. The song's name is derived from the nickname of Little Ilford Park, located in the London suburb of Manor Park. The 'itchycoo' nickname is attributed to the huge quantity of stinging nettles which grew there and of which both the local children and courting couples fell foul. The park itself is located in Church Road, E12.
Another local park, in the nearby town of Ilford, called Valentines Park, was also often referred to as Itchycoo Park, probably for the same reasons, but it is thought that it was Little Ilford Park and not Valentines Park which was the subject of the famous song by the Small Faces. This is due to the fact that the late Steve Marriott (singer and song-writer in the Small Faces) actually grew up in the area (confusingly, not park) Manor Park, where the Little Ilford Park would have been his local park.

The hairy seeds from the Rose Hip (or wild Dog Rose) were called "Itchycoos" by English kids is the 1950s, and the term is still used by some elsewhere in the United Kingdom. If you broke the seeds out of the berry and dropped them down someone's collar between shirt and back they resulted in an extremely annoying itch.
Scroll and Sing:
Over bridge of sighs, to rest my eyes
In shades of green
Under dreaming spires, to Itchycoo park
That's where I've been
What did you do there? I got high
What did you feel there? Well I cried
But why the tears there? Tell you why
It's all too beautiful, it's all too beautiful
it's all too beautiful, it's all too beautiful
I feel inclined to blow my mind
Get hung up feed the ducks with a bun
They all come out to groove about
While I search for fun in the sun
I tell you what I'll do (What will you do?)
I'd like to go there now with you
You can miss out school(Won't that be cool?)
Why go to learn the words of fools
What do we do there? We'll get high
(What will we touch there?) We'll touch the sky
But why the tears there? I'll tell you why
It's all too beautiful, it's all too beautiful
It's all too beautiful, it's all too beautiful
I feel inclined to blow my mind
Get hung up feed the ducks with a bun
They all come out to groove about
While I search for fun in the sun
It's all too beautiful, it's all too beautiful
It's all too beautiful, it's all too beautiful
It's all too beautiful....
